A Magazine for the Children of the World

One of the objectives of Reza and Delazad on their journey is to raise awareness for the Afghan children’s magazine, Parvaz. Launched by Aina in 2002 in Kabul, Parvaz is the first and only children’s magazine in Afghanistan. It is a high-quality, color magazine produced in local languages, and is designed to educate and entertain children while serving as an educational tool for teachers and parents. With an objective of promoting tolerance, mutual respect and understanding, it introduces children to other cultures and their ways of life and beliefs. A version of Parvaz, called Yuti, was launched in Sri Lanka in response to the devastation of the tsunami in 2006. The concept of an educational children’s magazine, as part of an effort to build the solid foundations of a civil society, will be expanded to other parts of the developing world in the coming year. Reza and Delazad hope that through their travels they may garner support for this effort.
