The Elegance of Fire
AZERBAIJAN, ELEGANCE OF FIRE
EXHIBITION BY REZA at THE PETIT PALAIS

As a photojournalist and insatiable visual explorer, Reza has witnessed the joys and suffering, conflicts and moments of peace of humanity throughout the world. Today, against the backdrop of Paris’ Petit Palais, Reza’s vision of Azerbaijan, the fruit of a series of reportages undertaken since 1987, will be revealed to the public through a series of images placed along the peristyle surrounding the gardens.
The exhibit Azerbaijan: the Elegance of Fire shows Reza’s view of a people with an ancestral culture undergoing major evolution as they head towards modernity. Scenes from daily life, portraits, glances, landscapes, and city panoramas all offer glimpses into this relatively unknown corner of the world, located in the Caucasus Mountains, poised between Europe and Asia.
This exhibition commemorates the publication of two books:
The Massacre of the Innocents and The Elegance of Fire.
